In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Ladies and Gentlemen
Excellencies, Distinguished Guests,
It is a great honor for me to be present among you on the occasion of the forty-seventh anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran. I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the presence of the respected ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions, political, cultural, and economic figures, and all distinguished guests.
The Islamic Revolution of Iran was the manifestation of the will of a nation that, in 1979, relying on its faith, historical identity, and aspiration for independence, overcame a dependent dictatorship and a regime that prioritized foreign interests over the will of its people. This revolution was not merely a transfer of political power, but rather the beginning of the establishment of national sovereignty, popular governance, and the restoration of the dignity and independence of the Iranian nation. From its very inception, the Islamic Republic of Iran charted its path based on independence, freedom, justice, and the rejection of domination—a path that, despite numerous pressures and challenges, has been pursued with consistency and perseverance.
Over the past five decades, despite complex regional and international developments, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been able to achieve notable accomplishments in various fields by relying on indigenous capacities, social cohesion, and a capable human workforce. In the field of science and technology, Iran’s position in scientific production has steadily improved, knowledge-based companies have expanded, and significant progress has been made in advanced technologies and the health sector.
In the areas of economy and production, despite unjust sanctions and the difficult conditions of the global economy, growth in industrial production, increased non-oil exports, strengthened tax foundations, and signs of movement toward a more diversified and resilient economy have emerged. In the fields of social services and infrastructure, the expansion of healthcare coverage, broad self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical production, progress in national housing projects, improved access to drinking water, and the expansion of communication infrastructure have played an effective role in enhancing the quality of life of citizens.
In the realm of foreign policy, the Islamic Republic of Iran, relying on a balanced foreign policy, dynamic diplomacy, and smart engagement, has pursued the expansion of relations with neighboring countries, emerging powers, and active membership in important regional and international organizations. The Islamic Republic of Iran considers itself a responsible, independent, and influential actor in the region and the world, and has consistently supported dialogue, multilateralism, and cooperation to ensure peace, stability, and sustainable development.
In recent years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has faced extensive economic, political, and security pressures under complex and multilayered conditions. Unilateral and illegal sanctions imposed outside recognized frameworks of international law have not only harmed Iran’s economy, but have also weakened the foundations of trust, cooperation, and multilateralism in the international system. Rather than serving as tools for resolving disputes, these sanctions have become obstacles to dialogue and constructive engagement, leaving widespread humanitarian and economic consequences on the lives of nations.
Despite these pressures, the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently emphasized diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful solutions. The fundamental principle of diplomacy is respect for national sovereignty and mutual interests; therefore, negotiations conducted under threats, coercion, and demands for unilateral and illegitimate concessions cannot be effective.
Amid these diplomatic efforts, the Iranian nation was confronted with a bitter reality: a twelve-day military aggression and war launched against the Islamic Republic of Iran with the participation of the Zionist regime and the direct support of the United States of America. This action constituted a clear violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, and dealt a serious blow to the credibility of diplomacy and dialogue at the global level. Nevertheless, this war also failed to achieve the objectives of its planners and once again demonstrated that the Iranian nation will not surrender in the face of pressure and threats.
Following failure in the military arena, we witnessed a shift in approach by the same actors toward internal destabilization. Attempts to exploit the people’s economic and livelihood challenges and to turn legitimate protests into unrest, chaos, and insecurity were part of a scenario pursued with external guidance and support. The Islamic Republic of Iran has always distinguished between civil protest, which is the natural right of citizens, and organized actions aimed at disrupting public order and undermining national security. What occurred during these periods was not support for the people’s demands, but a deliberate effort to transfer the arena of confrontation from the military front to within Iranian society.
Within this framework, the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully aware of its human rights obligations toward its citizens, including the right to peaceful assembly, and has demonstrated maximum restraint in dealing with unrest, while remaining committed to its inherent responsibility to protect its people and ensure public order and national security. The Iranian nation, with its awareness, vigilance, and historical experience, once again demonstrated that it will not allow the enemies of this land to exploit real economic challenges as tools for division, violence, and destabilization. Social cohesion and national vigilance remain Iran’s greatest assets against interventionist projects and hybrid warfare.
Today as well, the Islamic Republic of Iran faces simultaneous military, political, and media campaigns by the United States and the Zionist regime. The excessive demands and non-constructive approaches of the United States have not only failed to resolve issues, but have also deepened mistrust, instability, and divisions in international relations. The negative consequences of these policies are not limited to Iran; they also affect collective security and interests at the regional and global levels.
While remaining committed to peace, diplomacy, and equal dialogue, the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes its legitimate right to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security. We state unequivocally that in the face of any military action or threat against the Iranian nation, we will deliver a decisive, proportionate, and deterrent response. This readiness is not driven by a desire for tension, but rather by the pursuit of sustainable peace and the prevention of the repetition of costly adventurism.
In conclusion, I emphasize that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a deeply rooted, responsible country committed to the principles of international law. We extend a hand of friendship and cooperation to all countries that believe in mutual respect and justice, and at the same time, relying on our great nation, we will firmly defend Iran’s legitimate rights and interests.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has always regarded its relations with the Italian Republic as being based on mutual respect, dialogue, and shared interests. With a positive view toward the history of cooperation between the two countries—particularly in the economic, industrial, and commercial fields—Iran has consistently welcomed the expansion of interactions and constructive partnerships with Italy and believes that there are significant capacities for deepening these relations within the framework of balanced, win–win cooperation. Strengthening cooperation with Italy can be an effective step toward the development of Iran’s relations with Europe and the promotion of shared stability and prosperity.
Finally, while inviting you to watch a short video clip of recent events in Iran, I once again thank you for your warm presence and wish peace, stability, progress, and prosperity for the nations and governments of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Italian Republic.
Thank you for your attention.
